DNR ANNOUNCES KOSCIUSKO COUNTY LAKE RESTRICTIONS

(Kosciusko County)In response to unusually high water levels in Kosciusko County, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources has ordered that no motorized watercraft be operated above idle speed on the following Kosciusko County lakes.

(a) Tippecanoe Lake, Oswego, and James Lake,
(b) Big Barbee Lake, Little Barbee Lake, Irish Lake, Kuhn Lake and Sechrist Lake,

The executive order, signed this afternoon by Indiana Department of Natural Resources Director, Robert E. Carter, is effective immediately and will continue until the threat of high water has passed and the order is lifted. Persons with interests on Tippecanoe Lake, Oswego, and James Lake, Big Barbee Lake, Little Barbee Lake, Irish Lake, Kuhn Lake, and Sechrist Lake are asked to monitor local media outlets for the current operational status of lakes in their area.

UPDATE: August 26, 2009
DNR has lifted the idle speed limit for the lakes listed above.
