ILMS
Small Grants Program
In conjunction with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management,
ILMS offers small grants to organizations for projects too small
for the usual grant channels. Project submission is simple and the response
time
is short.

Small Grants Program
Application
Guidance Background
The Indiana Lakes Management Society (ILMS) is pleased to offer small
grants to qualified organizations, thanks to a Section 319 Watershed Planning
Grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Our goals
with this program are to support active lake associations and to provide
seed money to establish new lake or similar associations.
Uses for grant funds could include:
- Education and outreach to local lake communities
- Promotion of lake associations
- Reduction of boating impacts
- Identification and management of watershed issues
- Volunteer water quality monitoring and associated equipment purchases
- Other similar efforts
We encourage you to be creative! We are looking for innovative new ideas
for preserving the water quality in our lakes and watersheds.
Please fill out the attached application completely. Feel free to use
additional pages. An electronic version of the application is available
on our website, www.indianalakes.org. You may also contact the Grants Coordinator
for an electronic copy.
Payment
Please note that payment will be made in arrears. This means that projects
will be reimbursed on a quarterly basis. Project managers will be required
to submit documentation such as bills, receipts or invoices in order to
be reimbursed. Ten percent of the final payment will be withheld until
the project is complete and a final report has been submitted.
Funds cannot be used for the following:
- Drainage, dredging or flood control projects
- Land payments
- Large equipment purchases for individuals
- Work required by federal regulations, such as an NPDES Permit
- Permit fees of any type
- To provide match for other grant programs
- Work on private lakes
Match Requirements
Successful grant applications must include at least a 25% match. This
means that 25% of the total cost of the project must come from a local
source of cash or in-kind services.
